Summary

Welcome to Gulf Harbour School! We are a Primary School situated in an outstanding coastal community within the city of Auckland. It is our pleasure to welcome students and their families from around the world, to our school and community, and to share our education style, culture and lifestyle with them.

We cater to students Year 1 – 6 and provide exceptional study abroad experiences, offering several programmes including mainstream immersion, Summer Camp and our premium course – Global Classroom Leadership Development Programme. We also create custom study tours for groups (up to age 13) visiting from 1- 4 weeks that can include sightseeing and extra-curricular activities, as well as offer Teacher Mentoring Experiences and Parent Programmes.

Our goals for our international students are Grow, Belong, Discover and Achieve - we want our students to become part of our community, to feel welcomed, to be inspired to grow, to discover new skills and to achieve to the best of their ability. We encourage our international students to fully participate in all school activities including education outside the classroom, field trips and sporting pursuits. Through our inquiry-based learning and connected curriculum approach we provide students with rich learning experiences that help the to apply concepts learnt in the classroom to real life situations.

As a school we have a focussed structured literacy approach and so for younger learners it is a great time to be immersed and even children who speak no English make great improvements in the early years due the teaching of phonics and literacy.

We believe in having plenty of outdoor education experiences available to students, and it is one of the things that makes Gulf Harbour special. During the year we hold some lessons and classes outdoors, explore the nearby regional park, have beach activity days, learn about conservation, and marine environments.

Study abroad is an amazing experience for most children, and gives them the opportunity to build new skills, form new friendships, create wonderful memories and develop a wider awareness of other cultures, and at GHS we do our best to ensure students get the most out of their time here.
