If you are an apprentice working in the automotive electrical engineering, this programme is for you.
You will learn how to diagnose and repair faults in the electronically controlled systems of vehicles, while also focusing on health and safety.
NMIT automotive apprentice programmes are completed through part-time study and are fully online, giving you the freedom to study around your work. You have the option of attending weekly evening classes, either online or face-to-face, and can attend block courses which are scheduled throughout the year.
Entry requirements Entry requirementsA Level 3 qualification in Automotive Engineering, or evidence of equivalent skills and knowledge
A Managed Apprentice must be employed in an Automotive Electrical Engineering workshop.
If English is not your first language, evidence of language competency may be required.
International applicants for whom English is not their first language will be required to show evidence of language competency, issued within the last two years. The level of competency required is:
• IELTS general or academic score of 5.5 with no band score lower than 5 or completed NZ Certificate in English Language Level 3 with an endorsement of either General, Workplace or Academic, or
• Meet a relevant English Proficiency Outcome as outlined in NZQF related Rules (Rule 18) – The Table.
• A current workplace first aid certificate prior to enrolment; and
• A Class 1 drivers licence achieved before programme completion.
